The student affairs staff put out wrong information that directs students to the wrong venue, and they hardly ever communicate the lecture hours and location when the faculties change the venue. By the time students are catching up and locating the lecture, time has passed and the departments do not even help students with questions. Heads of departments are rarely in their office, especially Chairpersons, and even when they are there, you will find them with friends who come to visit them in the office during work hours, leaving long queues of students hanging around the offices waiting to be served so they can attend classes after being approved. This happens all through the first weeks of the semester during registration time, and then students are forced to defer their studies when their problems are not solved in time. I have had an experience where a chairperson came to work in the morning, he was listening to bongo music on his laptop, and when I sat down to discuss my problem, he was still watching YouTube Tanzanian music videos on his laptop as I discussed my issue, and he then got a notice on record Caling him to a board meeting at 9:00am in the morning, to which he instructed the secretary to ignore and disregard. He unproffesionally tried to dismiss me because I was not a student from his department, despite the fact that the registrar (academic) had written a letter to his office requiring that he attend to my matter. He asked me whether I had a letter indicating the same, and when I explained that I had a copy while the departments copy was sent via office messenger and via soft copy, he continues to asked me where it was, regardless of the fact that it goes directly to his office from the registrar. I explain that it was in his office files, a fact I had come to know since his secretary had shown me the same. In the end, he says he will only work on matters when he gets a call from the relevant office but not when asked by a student to review a case.
I would NOT recommend Kenyatta University to a friend.
